The CIE has a long history of organising markets in Andalusia and Portugal in cooperation with local government, and these markets have proved extremely popular and a great draw. The market in Monaster is held on a biennial basis.
The markets are colourful and entertaining occasions.
They include concerts of music, lectures and other material as well as trade in the colourful and rich traditional goods of North Africa.
