The Open Trade Network is a non-profit making organisation which has been based in Norwich, since the early nineties.
However, it had been preceded by a great deal of work done by people in Norwich, Spain and elsewhere in the 80's and 90's, particularly the conference organised by PAID (People Against Interest Debt) Usury: the Root Cause of the Major Injustices of Our Time (Wensum Lodge, Norwich, UK, September 13th 1987)
OTN has been set up to be a catalyst that both actually enters into trade and helps others’ open trade to grow and flourish. Our initiatives so far have focussed on some of the above elements but most obviously on making gold and silver coins available, subject to the law of the land on the issue, a matter on which work is being done at present.
Open Trade Network have organised a number of markets as waymarks on the path to genuine open trade markets.
Open Trade Network have also taken groups of manufacturers, producers and traders to markets further afield and abroad.
Open Trade Network members and affiliated groups and individuals have striven to initiate open production and manufacturing processes.
Moreover, Open Trade Network works hard as a campaigning body promoting all of the key aspects of Open Trade through conferences, lectures, books, and other media.
In addition, Open Trade Network will increasingly function as a consultancy body to help individuals and businesses turn around their affairs and make them more in harmony with the vision of Open Trade.
Open Trade Network will also work hard as a service to businesses finding markets and outlets for their goods, linking together like-minded individuals and groups of collaborators.
We have a number of working relationships with other like-minded bodies in Spain, such as CIE the organisers of the markets in Almonastir and Mertola, and further afield, as well as good working relationships and alliances with sympathetic groups such as FairTrade, etc.
